ANAHEIM, Calif., May 9 (UPI) -- Matt Palmer and three relievers held Kansas City to four hits Friday and the Los Angeles Angels downed Kansas City 4-1 to end the Royals' six-game win streak.
Palmer (3-0) gave up a run on two hits over 5 1/3 innings and then got relief help from Darren Oliver, Jose Arredondo and Brian Fuentes. The three members of the bullpen gave up two hits and struck out five, with Fuentes earning his eighth save.
Los Angeles took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth, when Juan Rivera delivered a one-out double and scored in front of Howie Kendrick's inside-the-park home run.
The ball eluded the grasp of right fielder Jose Guillen and bounced away from Guillen while Kendrick circled the bases.
Los Angeles has won five of its last six games.
