CLEVELAND, May 9 (UPI) -- Edwin Jackson pitched seven scoreless innings Saturday to help the Detroit Tigers shut out the Cleveland Indians 4-0.
Jackson (2-2) allowed only five hits and a walk while striking out seven for the Tigers, who have won five of their last seven games. The 25-year-old right-hander lowered his earned run average to 2.60 after seven starts.
Each of the final four hitters in the Tigers batting order -- Jeff Larish, Brandon Inge, Gerald Laird and Ramon Santiago -- had an RBI.
The Indians became the first team in the majors to lose 20 games. They extended their scoreless streak to 19 innings.
Cleveland starter Fausto Carmona (1-4) allowed only two runs on four hits and six walks in 6 2/3 innings.
