LOS ANGELES, May 7 (UPI) -- Manny Ramirez and James Loney keyed a huge sixth inning Wednesday and the Los Angeles Dodgers continued a historic streak by downing Washington 10-3.
The Dodgers established a modern major league record by winning their 13th consecutive home game to start a season.
Los Angeles produced the milestone triumph by downing the team with the worst record in the majors.
The Dodgers had only a 2-1 lead going into the sixth, during which they scored seven times and got two RBI each from Ramirez and Loney.
Los Angeles broke the record of 12 straight home victories at the beginning of a campaign, which it tied Tuesday. The 1911 Detroit Tigers, a team that included Ty Cobb, had previously owned the record.
The Dodgers have four games remaining on their current home stand.
Clayton Kershaw (1-2) got the record-breaking win by throwing five innings and then watching his teammates give him a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the fifth. Kershaw allowed a run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Daniel Cabrera (0-3) surrendered four runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.
