Tommie Harris' wife dies
NEW YORK, May 6 (UPI) -- Johan Santana and two relievers combined on a three-hitter Wednesday and the New York Mets used an unearned run to defeat Philadelphia 1-0.
The Mets won their third straight and ended the Phillies' three-game winning streak.
Santana (4-1) gave up two hits over seven innings while walking three and striking out 10. Pedro Feliciano worked around a one-out double in the eighth and Francisco Rodriguez was perfect in the ninth to earn his eighth save.
Santana came into the game with a career 2.85 ERA in six career starts against the Phillies.
Philadelphia put runners on second and third with two away in the third, but Santana got Chase Utley to ground out to second to end the inning.
New York's run came in the seventh after starter Chan Ho Park had been relieved by Scott Eyre (0-1).
Eyre walked Carlos Delgado to open the inning, then retired the next two batters. When Fernando Tatis came on to pinch hit, Chad Durbin relieved Eyre. Tatis beat out a grounder to third for an infield single and when third baseman Pedro Feliz threw the ball away, Delgado came in to score the game's only run.
