KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 6 (UPI) -- Mitch Maier scampered home from third on John Buck's two-out single to left Tuesday, lifting Kansas City to an 8-7 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Maier had gotten on board with a one-out walk. Willie Bloomquist followed with a single and stole second. After Mike Jacobs lined out, Alberto Callaspo walked to fill the bases.
Buck then ripped his game-winning RBI -- his first in six at-bats in the game.
Jacobs had a three-run homer and Callaspo had a solo shot earlier in the contest. Billy Butler and Coco Crisp also drove in runs for the Royals, who have won four straight and six of seven overall.
Juan Cruz (2-0) was credited with the victory after pitching a scoreless 11th. Royals starter Kyle Davies gave up six runs on eight hits in four-plus innings but escaped with a no-decision.
Jermaine Dye and Scott Podsednik both drove in two runs for the White Sox, who dropped their fourth straight game. Josh Fields, Carlos Quentin and Alexei Ramirez each drove in a run. A.J. Pierzynski went 4-for-5.
Chicago starter Gavin Floyd was roughed up for six runs in five-plus innings. But he avoided being tagged with the loss, which went to Lance Broadway (0-1), who gave up the run in the 11th.
