MLB: Minnesota 7, Detroit 2

DETROIT, May 4 (UPI) -- Francisco Liriano scattered four hits and two runs over 7 1/3 innings for his first win of the season Monday in the Minnesota Twins' 7-2 victory over Detroit.

Liriano (1-4) struck out nine and walked three. The left-hander was winless through five starts this season after losing four games all of last year.

Michael Cuddyer tripled in two runs as part of a five-run seventh inning for the Twins. Denard Span had four hits and an RBI, and Alexi Casilla drove in two runs.

Edwin Jackson (1-2) worked six-plus frames for the Tigers. He struck out seven while walking two, but he gave up three of his seven hits and four of his five runs in the seventh.

Miguel Cabrera had a solo home run and Magglio Ordonez a late RBI for Detroit.
