Florida first basman NL Player of Week

NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- Florida Marlins first baseman Jorge Cantu was named Monday as the National League Player of the Week.

Cantu, 27, led the NL and tied the major league lead with 14 RBI for the week, while leading the NL with 22 total bases. He batted .346 (9-of-26) with four home runs, and posted an .846 slugging percentage.

Cantu had two home runs and five RBI on April 28 against the Mets in New York.

For the season, Cantu has seven home runs, 25 RBI and five doubles with a .333 average in 20 games.
