NHL: Carolina 3, Boston 0

BOSTON, May 3 (UPI) -- Carolina's Cam Ward turned away 36 shots and the Hurricanes beat Boston 3-0 Sunday, squaring their Eastern Conference semifinal series at 1-1.

The shutout was the fourth for Ward in playoff competition this season.

Eric Staal registered a goal and assist and Joe Corvo and Matt Cullen both scored for Carolina.

Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas was credited with 22 saves.

Game 3 in the series will be in Raleigh, N.C., Wednesday.
