MLS: Chivas USA 1, San Jose 0

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 3 (UPI) -- Justin Braun scored in the 53rd minute Saturday and Chivas USA beat San Jose 1-0 to improve its MLS-best record to 6-1-1.

Braun scored following a long timeout after Quakes defender Chris Leitch was injured when he hit his head on the turf.

Chivas USA goalie Zach Thornton and his Earthquakes counterpart Joe Cannon combined to make 10 saves.

San Jose fell to 1-4-2.
