MLB: Atlanta 7, Houston 2

ATLANTA, May 2 (UPI) -- Omar Infante touched off a four-run fifth inning with a two-run double Friday and the Atlanta Braves waited out a long rain delay to defeat Houston 7-2.

The teams were locked in a 2-2 tie going into the fifth on a wet night, but Atlanta batted around in that inning and scored four times against Mike Hampton (1-2).

The game was stopped in the seventh inning and finally allowed to resume en route to a post-midnight finish.

Derek Lowe (3-1) got the win by allowing two runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings.

Matt Diaz opened the Atlanta fifth with a single and moved to second on a walk to Jordan Schafer. Lowe laid down a bunt to move the runners along and was safe at first on a throwing error by first baseman Lance Berkman.

Infante then drove in two runs with a single, Yunel Escobar doubled home Lowe and Infante eventually scored on a single by Jeff Francoeur.
