Report: Miami stadium to get new name

Published: May 1, 2009 at 6:53 PM

MIAMI, May 1 (UPI) -- The Miami Dolphins could change the name of their home field to Landshark Stadium, Canesport.com, a Web site that covers the University of Miami, said Friday.

Dolphin Stadium has not had a corporate name since 2005, but the Web site said a naming rights deal with Landshark Lager, a beer brewed by Anheuser-Busch, was being negotiated.

"We've been in conversations," Dolphin Stadium president Bruce Schulze admitted without further comment.

The Miami Herald had reported Wednesday that Dolphins and stadium owner Stephen Ross had discussed opening a Margaritaville themed-area inside Dolphin Stadium, and the naming rights deal would fit within that plan.

Margaritaville is a signature hit of singer Jimmy Buffet, who in 2006 began a project with Anheuser-Busch to produce Landshark Lager under the Margaritaville brewing label.
