FES, Morocco, May 1 (UPI) -- Anabel Medina Garrigues and Ekaterina Makarova easily advanced Friday to the finals of the $220,000 Moroccan Grand Prix tennis tournament.

Medina Garrigues, the tournament's top seed, made Saturday's finals when Melinda Czink retired due to illness before the start of the second set of the clay-court match. Medina Garrigues won the first set 6-0, dropping just two points in her three service games.

Makarova, seeded sixth, advanced to her first WTA final with a 6-2, 6-1 rout of second-seeded Alisa Kleybanova. Makarova piled up seven service breaks in the match that lasted just under an hour.

Medina Garrigues is seeking her ninth career WTA title. She was the runner-up at Fes last year.

Medina Garrigues and Makarova have met once in their careers, with Medina Garrigues winning the hard-court match in straight sets.

The Moroccan Grand Prix winner will earn $37,000.
