Medina Garrigues claims semifinal berth

FES, Morocco, April 30 (UPI) -- Anabel Medina Garrigues, the No. 1 seed and the runner-up a year ago, reached the semifinals Thursday at the Moroccan Grand Prix.

Medina Garrigues outfought Lourdes Dominguez Lino 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) on the red clay of the Fes Royal Tennis Club.

Her semifinal opponent Friday will be Melinda Czink, who breezed by Lucie Hradecka 6-4, 6-2 in the quarters.

The other semifinal will send Alisa Kleybanova against Ekaterina Makarova. Kleybanova was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Polana Hercog and Markova defeated Marta Domachowska 6-4, 6-4.
