DETROIT, April 28 (UPI) -- Jose Molina hit a grand slam in a 10-run seventh inning Tuesday, helping the New York Yankees thrash the Detroit Tigers 11-0.
Phil Hughes (1-0), who was called up from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre prior to the game to start for the first time since last Sept. 24, allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out six in six innings.
Nick Swisher and Melky Cabrera each had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI for New York.
Robinson Cano had two hits, an RBI and a run scored while extending his hitting streak to 15 games.
Ryan Perry (0-1) came on in relief for Detroit and got only one out while giving up four runs.
