DENVER, April 28 (UPI) -- Ian Stewart had three RBI and a run scored Monday when the Colorado Rockies pounded out a 12-7 win over San Diego.
Todd Helton, Garrett Atkins, Brad Hawpe and Clint Barmes had two RBI apiece for the Rockies, who won their second straight game following a seven-game losing streak.
Starting in place of the injured Franklin Morales, Jason Hammel went three-plus innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Jason Grilli (1-1) got the win, after pitching 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Jody Gerut had three hits, including a home run, and scored three runs for Padres, who have lost three straight. Chase Headley drove in two and scored a run. Brian Giles, Adrian Gonzalez, Luis Rodriguez and Kevin Kouzmanoff each drove in a run for San Diego.
Chris Young (2-1) took the loss, giving up eight runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and five walks in three-plus innings for the Padres.
The Rockies were ahead 6-5 when they erupted for a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Hawpe and a two-out RBI single by Barmes.
Hawpe was taken off the field on a cart in the sixth inning after he was struck in the neck by a ball thrown by San Diego catcher Nick Hundley on a pickoff attempt. Hawpe lay motionless for a few minutes before Rockies trainers placed a brace on his neck.
He was able to walk to the cart on his own, and then was transported to a hospital.
