SAN JOSE, Calif., April 26 (UPI) -- Patrick Marleau's overtime goal Saturday lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over Anaheim in Game 5 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.
Marleau's game-winner at 6:02 of the extra stanza cut top-seeded San Jose's deficit against the eighth-seeded Ducks to 3-2 with Game 6 scheduled for Monday at Anaheim.
Joe Thornton (power play) and Devin Setoguchi also scored goals. Marleau added an assist, while Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves on 25 shots for the Sharks, who are attempting to avoid becoming just the eighth top seed since 1994 to lose to a No. 8 seed in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Anaheim's goals were scored by Ryan Carter and Corey Perry, with Perry creating a 2-2 tie at 4:42 of the third period. Scott Niedermayer assisted on both goals.
Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller was beaten three times on 48 shots.
