SAN DIEGO, April 26 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche homered twice and knocked in four runs Sunday to fuel an 8-3 win by the Pittsburgh Pirates over the San Diego Padres.

LaRoche's fourth homer this season, a three-run blast, gave the Pirates a 5-2 lead and broke a 2-2 tie with one out in the top of the fifth inning. He followed that with a solo shot that capped the scoring with one out in the ninth.

Robinzon Diaz hit a two-run single in the fourth. Brian Bixler hit a two-run double in the eighth, while both Andy LaRoche and Nyjer Morgan added two hits for the Pirates, who have won five of six.

They outscored the Padres 18-4 in the last two games of the three-game set.

The winner was starter Ross Ohlendorf (2-2), who allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings, with three walks and two strikeouts.

San Diego scored on a two-run first-inning homer from Adrian Gonzalez and a solo shot by Edwin Gonzalez in the eighth.

Losing pitcher Jake Peavy (2-3) gave up five earned runs and six hits in five innings.
