NEW ORLEANS, April 26 (UPI) -- Jerry Kelly closed with a 1-under-par Sunday and won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans -- his long-awaited third victory on the PGA Tour.
Kelly, who had been winless in his previous 200 events, finished at 14-under-par 274, a stroke ahead of Rory Sabbatini (67), Charles Howell III (68) and Charlie Wi (68).
David Toms (68), winner of the event in 2001, shared fifth place at 12-under 276 with Steve Marino (70).
Kelly won $1.13 million.
"You know," the 42-year-old Wisconsin native said. "I stayed fairly comfortable throughout the whole thing. I hit the ball fairly consistently all day, not great, but got it done."
