Jets make noise again at the NFL Draft

NEW YORK, April 26 (UPI) -- The New York Jets stayed busy on Day 2 of the 2009 NFL Draft, sending three picks to Detroit to select all-America running back Shonn Green from Iowa.

Green is a possible replacement for disgruntled starter Thomas Jones in New York's backfield. Sunday's move followed the decision to move up Saturday and select University of Southern California quarterback Mark Sanchez with the draft's fifth overall pick.

Green, a native of Sicklerville, N.J., rushed for at least 100 yards in all 13 Hawkeye games last season, and finished his career with 1,850 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Other notable picks on Sunday were unheralded Florida wide receiver Louis Murphy (124th overall) by Oakland; Michigan State running back Javon Ringer (173rd) by the Tennessee Titans; Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel (178th) by the Seattle Seahawks; Clemson running back James Davis (195th) by the Cleveland Browns; and the last player chosen, Cincinnati guard Trevor Canfield (254th) by the Arizona Cardinals.
