TALLADEGA, Ala., April 25 (UPI) -- David Ragan took the lead in the last turn of the final lap Saturday to win the Aaron's 312 Nationwide Series race at Talladega, Ala.
Ryan Newman was attempting to hold off Dale Earnhardt Jr. during a green-white-checkered finish, but the two bumped coming out of turn four. Ragan moved outside of Earnhardt Jr. and then nudged Newman out of the way before beating him by 0.030 seconds.
It was Ragan's first victory in a NASCAR national touring series race and his first Nationwide win in his 85th start. Ragan led only the final lap.
Newman, who started on the pole, finished second. Joey Logano came in third. Tony Raines was fourth and Earnhardt ended up fifth.
Kyle Busch expanded his points lead to 62 over Carl Edwards. With the victory, Ragan -- who is not running a full schedule in the series this year -- moved to 80 points off the lead.
