
ST. LOUIS, April 25 (UPI) -- Albert Pujols hit a grand slam homer Saturday to power the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
Pujols' grand slam was his second of the season and his seventh homer this season. Brian Barden was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Khalil Greene 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cardinals, who have won five in a row.
Mitchell Boggs (1-0) made his first start of the season and got the win after allowing an unearned run on six hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Sean Marshall (0-1) took the loss despite giving up just three runs on six hits in six innings.
The Cardinals blew the game open against Cubs reliever David Patton, who allowed five runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings.
Ryan Theriot drove in a run for the Cubs, who have lost four in a row.
