Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

OAKLAND, Calif., April 25 (UPI) -- Nomar Garciaparra hit a three-run double in the fourth inning Saturday to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 5-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Athletics ended a five-game losing streak. Jason Giambi had his first home run since returning to Oakland during the off-season. Travis Buck also homered in the win.
Oakland starter Dallas Braden (2-2) allowed one run on four hits and three walks in 5 2/3 innings.
Akinori Iwamura went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Rays, who have lost five of seven. Pat Burrell also drove in a run.
Losing pitcher Matt Garza (1-2) gave up four runs on four hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.
