HOUSTON, April 24 (UPI) -- Rickie Weeks delivered the first of five consecutive two-out singles that created a four-run fifth inning Friday and lifted Milwaukee past Houston 5-2.
The Brewers won their third straight game and backed up a highlight effort Thursday in which Dave Bush took a no-hitter into the eighth inning of a victory over Philadelphia.
Yovani Gallardo (2-1) made it two excellent outings in a row for Milwaukee by going the distance and striking out seven while allowing five hits. He needed the succession of base hits in the fifth inning, however, to come out a winner.
With starter Felipe Paulino (0-1) on the mound, the Brewers put Jason Kendall on second with two away. Weeks then moved Kendall to third with an infield hit, after which Corey Hart, Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder and Mike Cameron each produced an RBI single.
Weeks added a solo homer in the seventh.
Houston's two runs came on Carlos Lee's homer in the fourth.
