PHILADELPHIA, April 23 (UPI) -- Right-hander Dave Bush hurled 7 1/3 scoreless innings Thursday to boost the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-1 win over Philadelphia.
Bush's no-hitter ended when pinch-hitter Matt Stairs launched a solo homer off the right-field foul pole with one out in the bottom of the eighth. Stairs' homer came shortly after Bill Hall robbed pinch-hitter Chris Coste of a hit on a grounder to third base.
In all, Bush (1-0) gave up an earned run and two hits before reliever Mitch Stetter retired the final four batters.
Prince Fielder led Milwaukee with two hits and three RBI. Ryan Braun had two hits -- one a two-run fourth-inning homer -- Hall hit a solo shot in the eighth, and both Rickie Weeks and Corey Hart added two hits for the Brewers, who won twice in the three-game series.
Shane Victorino had the other hit for the Phillies, who lost starter Cole Hamels (0-2) to a Fielder liner off his left shoulder in the fourth.
