ANAHEIM, Calif., April 23 (UPI) -- Brandon Inge produced two of his three RBI during a five-run seventh Wednesday that rallied Detroit to a 12-10 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Los Angeles owned an 8-6 lead going into the seventh, but the Tigers used two walks and six singles -- two of which did not leave the infield -- to produce their big inning.

Inge drove in the second and third runs of the inning with an infield hit and then hit a solo homer in the ninth as part of an 18-hit attack.

The seventh-inning outburst made a winner out of Juan Rincon (1-0), who worked one inning in relief of starter Justin Verlander.

Scot Shields (0-2) gave up four of the five runs in the seventh to take the loss.

Placido Polanco, Magglio Ordonez and Adam Everett all drove in two runs for Detroit.

The Tigers overcame a big game from Kendry Morales, who had a three-run homer in the first and a two-run single in the fifth.

Detroit had a 12-8 advantage going into the Los Angeles ninth before Fernando Rodney gave up a two-out, two-run double to Juan Rivera. With the potential tying run at the plate, Rodney finally got Erick Aybar to ground out to first to end the game.
