MLB: Cincinnati 7, Chicago Cubs 1

CHICAGO, April 23 (UPI) -- Joey Votto had four hits and two RBI Thursday to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-1 rout of the Chicago Cubs in the rubber match of a three-game series.

The slugging first baseman launched a solo homer in the eighth following an RBI double in the sixth and two earlier hits.

Chris Dickerson had a run, two hits and two RBI. Willy Taveras had two hits and scored twice, Alex Gonzalez and Jay Bruce both drove in one run, while Ramon Hernandez added two runs and two hits for the Reds, who have won seven of 10.

Winner Aaron Harang (2-2) surrendered an unearned run and seven hits in seven innings.

Alfonso Soriano had two of Chicago's seven hits and scored the lone run on a sixth-inning single by Ryan Theriot following an error by Dickerson.

Losing pitcher Carlos Zambrano (1-1) allowed four runs -- three earned -- and seven hits in seven innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.

The Cubs left six in scoring position.
