ORLANDO, Fla., April 22 (UPI) -- Rookie Courtney Lee scored 24 points Wednesday and Orlando held on to even its playoff series with a 96-87 victory over Philadelphia.
The Magic rebounded from their last-second loss in the series opener Sunday by opening an 18-point lead midway through the third period and fighting off the 76ers' comeback bid.
Hedo Turkoglu and Rashard Lewis combined to make just 7-of-24 shots from the field for Orlando, but they were 16-of-19 from the foul line. They ended with 16 points each.
Dwight Howard, who on Tuesday became the youngest competitor ever to win the NBA's defensive player of the year award, was in foul trouble throughout the evening and wound up with 11 points. He fouled out late in the fourth period.
Philadelphia was led by Andre Miller with 30 points. Andre Iguodala, whose jumper just before the buzzer gave the 76ers the win in the first game of the series, scored 20 of his 21 points in the second half.
Philadelphia turned the ball over 17 times and was out-rebounded 44-37.
The 76ers will host the third game of the series Friday.
