ST. LOUIS, April 22 (UPI) -- Joel Pineiro pitched into the ninth inning Wednesday and Albert Pujols drove in two runs, carrying St. Louis past the New York Mets 5-2.

After giving up a lead-off double to David Wright in the ninth, Pineiro was relieved by Dennys Reyes.

Reyes retired two batters, but also gave up a run-scoring double to Carlos Beltran before Ryan Franklin came on to pick up a one-out save -- his fourth of the year.
