NEW YORK, April 22 (UPI) -- Melky Cabrera's two-run, 14th-inning home run Wednesday -- his second homer of the game -- lifted the New York Yankees to a 9-7 win over the Oakland Athletics.

The one-out blast off losing pitcher Dan Giese (0-2) was Cabrera's fourth this season and New York's fourth in the contest.

Hideki Matsui and Derek Jeter hit the other homers in the Yankees' 17-hit attack.

No runs had scored since an RBI single by Oakland's Matt Holliday in the seventh.

Cabrera had three RBI, Jeter two and four others knocked in one run for the Yankees, who won twice in the rain-shortened three-game series.

The winner was Jose Veras (1-1).

Oakland's Kurt Suzuki had two hits, one a three-run homer in the second off New York starter CC Sabathia.

Four others had one RBI, while Holliday also had two hits in Oakland's fourth straight loss.

Sabathia gave up seven runs -- six earned -- and six hits in 6 2/3 innings. He continued to struggle since signing a seven-year, $161 million deal last December.
