
WASHINGTON, April 19 (UPI) -- The Florida Marlins scored four runs in the ninth Sunday to beat the Washington Nationals 7-4 and run their season record to 11-1.
Cody Ross' drove in three runs in the ninth after tying the game with a solo home run in the eighth in a 3-for-4 performance that included five RBIs.
Leo Nunez (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Chris Volstad. Matt Lindstrom pitched the ninth for his third save.
Saul Rivera (0-3) took the loss, giving up two hits and all four runs in the ninth as Washington fell to 1-10.
The Nationals grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first after loading the bases and then getting RBI singles from Elijah Dukes and Austin Kearns. They took a 3-1 lead in the fifth when Jesus Flores singled Adam Dunn in from third.
After Florida added a run in the sixth, Ryan Zimmerman drove in a run to make it 4-3 Washington heading into the ninth but the Nationals failed to make the lead stand up.
