SEATTLE, April 18 (UPI) -- Ichiro Suzuki, fresh off a milestone moment in his career, contributed an RBI single in a five-run fifth inning Friday that led Seattle past Detroit 6-3.

Suzuki established an all-time hit record for a Japanese player Thursday, reaching 3,086. He tacked on another one Friday as part of a comeback that brought the Mariners their seventh win in eight games.

Seattle sent 10 men to the plate in the fifth, overcoming a 3-0 deficit.

Adrian Beltre opened the inning with a double off Justin Verlander (0-2), moved to third on Russell Branyan's single and scored on a base hit by Jose Lopez. A sacrifice by Rob Johnson put runners on second and third and Branyan scored ahead of the throw on Yuniesky Betancourt's fielder's choice grounder to third.

Franklin Gutierrez followed with a bunt single that brought in Lopez and Suzuki kept it going with a single that scored Betancourt. Verlander allowed the fifth run of the inning to come in by uncorking a wild pitch.

Starter Felix Hernandez (2-0) got the win, giving up three runs on eight hits over six innings. Brandon Morrow struck out two in the ninth inning and recorded his third save.
