
PHILADELPHIA, April 18 (UPI) -- Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a three-run homer in a San Diego four-run ninth Saturday and the Padres beat Philadelphia 8-5.
Brad Lidge (0-1) entered with a 5-4 lead in the ninth, but failed to post a save for the first time in 48 tries dating back to Sept. 23, 2007.
Jody Gerut led off the ninth with a double and scored the tying run on Brian Giles' RBI. Adrian Gonzalez and Chase Headley walked and then scored on Kouzmanoff's homer.
Kouzmanoff had three hits and Gonzalez added a two-run homer.
Heath Bell set down the side in the ninth to pick up his seventh save for the Padres, who have won eight of nine. Cla Meredith (3-0) earned the win by getting the final two outs of the eighth.
Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Raul Ibanez each hit a solo homer for the Phillies.
