NEW YORK, April 18 (UPI) -- Johan Santana hurled seven scoreless innings Saturday, carrying the New York Mets to a 1-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
The game's only run scored on a seventh-inning fielder's choice grounder by Jose Reyes.
In his first start at Citi Field, Santana (2-1) did not walk a batter among his 102 pitches, struck out seven and did not allow more than one runner in any inning.
Both Reyes and Luis Castillo had two hits for the Mets, who won the first two contests in the three-game series.
Francisco Rodriguez earned his third save despite giving up a hit in the top of the ninth, but struck out two of the four batters he faced.
Ryan Braun had two of the six hits for the Brewers, who have lost 8-of-11 to begin the 2009 season.
The losing pitcher was reliever Carlos Villanueva (1-2).
Starter Yovani Gallardo surrendered five hits in six scoreless innings with two walks and seven strikeouts.
