MLB: Toronto 9, Minnesota 2

MINNEAPOLIS, April 16 (UPI) -- Kevin Millar finished off a seven-run seventh inning with a grand slam homer Thursday, powering the Toronto Blue Jays to a 9-2 victory over Minnesota.

The Blue Jays have won eight of their first 11 games this season and, over the course of two consecutive meetings with Minnesota, outscored the Twins by a combined 21-4.

Toronto's 14-hit outburst Thursday made a winner of Roy Halladay (3-0), who allowed a run on eight hits over seven innings.

Francisco Liriano (0-3) took the loss, even though he gave up just one earned run and struck out five in six innings. Matt Guerrier replaced Liriano to start the seventh and the Blue Jays promptly put the game away.

Rod Barajas opened the seventh with a single and, one out later, Marco Scutaro homered to left to make it 4-1. Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells followed with singles, after which Craig Breslow replaced Guerrier.

With Adam Lind at the plate, Breslow threw a wild pitch that allowed Hill to score from third. Lind eventually walked, as did Scott Rolen to load the bases.

That brought up Millar, who blasted his homer to left.
