BOSTON, April 15 (UPI) -- Eddie House hit five 3-pointers in the final period Wednesday and a collection of backup players lifted Boston to a 115-107 victory over Washington.

With the defending champion Celtics locked into the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, stars Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were all held out on the final night of the regular season.

Glen Davis wound up leading Boston with 21 points and House had 20.

Boston will meet Chicago in the opening round of the playoffs after an unlikely series of events pushed Chicago into the No. 7 seed behind Philadelphia.

Caron Butler scored 39 points to lead Washington, which finished with the worst record in the Eastern Conference at 19-63.
