
PITTSBURGH, April 13 (UPI) -- Zach Duke had a four-hit shutout Monday to pitch the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 7-0 victory over the Houston Astros.
Adam LaRoche highlighted a five-run third inning with a two-run homer. Nyjer Morgan singled in two runs and Freddy Sanchez had three doubles for Pittsburgh in its home opener.
Duke (2-0) had his fourth MLB career complete game and third shutout. He held the Astros to two singles and two doubles, while walking two and striking out five.
Houston starter Brian Moehler (0-2) gave up five runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings. He allowed seven runs on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings last week in a loss to Chicago and has an earned run average of 27.00.
Miguel Tejada had two hits for the Astros, who were shut out on three hits Sunday by St. Louis' Kyle Lohse and have lost five straight.
