MLB: Chicago White Sox 6, Minnesota 1

CHICAGO, Minn., April 12 (UPI) -- Jim Thome cracked a two-run home run and Mark Buehrle yielded just two hits in six innings Sunday, carrying the Chicago White Sox past the Minnesota Twins 6-1.

Buehrle (1-0) notched five strikeouts and didn't walk a batter.

Thome put Chicago ahead to stay with a homer over the right-field wall in the sixth inning.

Jermaine Dye hit a solo homer for the Sox and Delmon Young accounted for Minnesota's run, also with a solo shot.

Nick Blackburn (0-1) was the loser, giving Chicago four runs and six hits in six-plus innings.
