DENVER, April 11 (UPI) -- Henrik Sedin's goal 40 seconds into overtime Saturday handed the Vancouver Canucks a 1-0 win over Colorado.
The Canucks claimed the Northwest Division title when regulation ended in a scoreless tie, and then posted their third straight win when a Sedin pass caromed off the skate of Colorado's Scott Hannan past Avalanche goalie Peter Budaj for the game-winner.
Vancouver's Roberto Luongo stopped 22 shots in his ninth shutout of the season and the 47th of his NHL career.
Budaj finished with 32 saves in the third straight loss for the Avalanche.
Vancouver (45-27-10) has locked up the third seed in the Western Conference and is waiting to see whether it will play Anaheim, Columbus or St. Louis in the first round.
The Avalanche are out of contention for post-season play.
