NHL: Pittsburgh 3, Montreal 1

MONTREAL, April 11 (UPI) -- Maxime Talbot, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin scored goals and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 29 shots Saturday to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins past Montreal 3-1.

The Penguins (45-28-9) won three straight to wrap up the regular season and will meet Philadelphia in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs -- although it was not yet certain which team will have the home-ice advantage. The Flyers will get the edge with a win or an overtime game Sunday in their season finale against the New York Rangers -- otherwise, the Pens will have the home-ice, since they will finish with more wins than Philadelphia.

Malkin has sewed up the Art Ross trophy, given to the leading regular-season scorer. With 35 goals and 78 assists, he has a three-point lead over Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, who finished their regular season Saturday.

Roman Hamrlik scored a goal and Carey Price posted 38 saves for Montreal, (41-30-11), which finished the regular season with four straight losses and goes into the playoffs as the eighth seed in the East -- facing a first-round date with top seeded Boston.
