NHL: Washington 4, Tampa Bay 2

TAMPA, Fla., April 9 (UPI) -- Brooks Laich scored two goals for the Washington Capitals Thursday in a 4-2 victory over Tampa Bay, the Lightning's eighth straight defeat.

The win was Washington's 11th in a row over Tampa Bay.

Mike Green added a goal and two assists and David Steckel scored for the Caps, who have clinched second place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Jose Theodore stopped 22 shots for the Caps.

Steven Stamkos and Matt Pettinger got the Lightning's goals and Karri Ramo had 29 saves.

Tampa Bay's season will end with a game at Atlanta Saturday.
