CHICAGO, April 9 (UPI) -- Fedor Tyutin produced the only goal of a shootout Wednesday, giving Columbus the first playoff berth in franchise history with a 4-3 victory over Chicago.

The Blue Jackets climbed to 92 points with two games remaining, giving them six more than the ninth-place Nashville Predators. Columbus also all but wrapped up the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

Rick Nash and Antoine Vermette both had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets, who joined the NHL as an expansion team for the 2000-01 season.

Steve Mason earned the 33rd win of his rookie season by making 24 saves.

Chicago, which is currently seeded fourth in the West, had a four-game winning streak snapped.
