NEW YORK, April 9 (UPI) -- Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has received a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

He was arrested in California in February on gun possession charges. Lynch recently entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor count of carrying a gun in his vehicle and was sentenced to three years probation.

The NFL suspension, first reported by the Buffalo News, was handed down by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

During a Feb. 11 incident, Lynch was discovered with a loaded firearm while sitting with two other men in a parked car in Culver City.

After a plea agreement, he was ordered to do 80 hours of community service, lost his driver's license and was fined $100. Two other misdemeanor counts against Lynch -- one for carrying a loaded firearm and one for carrying an unregistered firearm -- were dropped.

It was the second time in less than 12 months that he was involved in a traffic-related incident.
