Tommie Harris' wife dies

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 8 (UPI) -- San Jose's Joe Pavelski scored the only goal in an overtime shootout Tuesday to notch a 1-0 Sharks win over the Colorado Avalanche.
Pavelski fired a wrist shot in the first San Jose attempt that ruined what had been a solid 30-save night for Colorado goalie Peter Budaj.
Budaj withstood a furious San Jose power play during the overtime period in which dangerous Joe Thornton reeled off a volley of one-timers from the right circle.
The win gave San Jose 117 points and the overall lead in points this season.
Evgeni Nabokov made 20 saves for his 47th career shutout.
