EDMONTON, Alberta, April 8 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Kings got goals from Alexander Frolov and Wayne Simmonds Tuesday in a 2-1 win over Edmonton that eliminated the Oilers from playoff contention.

The Oilers missed the playoffs for the third consecutive season as they lost for the fourth time in their last five games while St. Louis beat Phoenix 5-1.

Fernando Pisani scored the lone Edmonton goal, while Dwayne Roloson made 27 saves.

Jonathan Quick made 38 saves for Los Angeles after being staked to a 2-0 lead early in the first period.

Frolov scored his 31st goal of the season on a slap shot 55 seconds into the contest to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead. Simmonds followed less than 3 minutes later with his eighth score of the season, which proved to be the game-winner.

Quick was able to withstand repeated Edmonton attacks the rest of the way, although he allowed a lone goal at 3:31 of the second on a shot by Denis Grebeshkov that Pisani deflected off a Kings player's skate and into the net.
