NHL: Calgary 4, Los Angeles 1

CALGARY, Alberta, April 7 (UPI) -- Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist Monday and the Calgary Flames beat Los Angeles 4-1 to take sole possession of first place in the Northwest Division.

Daymond Langkow, David Moss and Jim Vandermeer scored goals and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 23 shots for the Flames, who won for the second time in three games and lead Vancouver by two points as they prepare to visit the Canucks Tuesday.

Kiprusoff has 45 wins this season -- fourth-best in NHL history. Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils recorded the highest total of victories in one season with 48 during the 2006-07 season.

Wayne Simmonds scored and Erik Ersberg let in four goals on 38 shots for the Kings, who have lost seven of their last nine games.

Langkow struck first, scoring during a fight for a loose puck in front of the Kings' goal at 2:05 of the second period. Simmonds tied it at 1-1 midway through the second, but Iginla scored what turned out to be the decisive goal at 16:38 of the second -- and the Flames scored twice in the third to tuck the game away.
