EDMONTON, Alberta, April 5 (UPI) -- Sam Gagner had a goal and two assists anad the Edmonton Oilers survived a wild six-goal third period Saturday to get a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
Both clubs scored three times in the third after Edmonton held a 2-0 advantage through 40 minutes.
Sheldon Souray had a goal and an assist for Edmonton and his power-play goal at 14:49 of the third was the eventual game-winner.
Dwayne Roloson made 43 saves on 46 shots for the Oilers, who have won five of their last six games, but are barely alive in the Western Conference playoff chase with 83 points -- tied with Minnesota for 10th in the West, three points behind Nashville and St. Louis, who are tied for the eighth spot.
Vancouver got one goal apiece from Mason Raymond, Alex Burrows and Kyle Wellwood (power play).
Roberto Luongo was beaten four times on 24 shots for the Canucks, who have clinched a playoff spot and are tied with Calgary atop the Northwest Division standings -- and for the fourth playoff seed -- with 94 points apiece.
