BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., April 5 (UPI) -- Marco Pappa scored for the Chicago Fire, which played a man short for most of the match Sunday but managed to down the New York Red Bulls 1-0.

Pappa got to a loose ball and fired it past New York goalkeeper Danny Ceperi in the 33rd minute of the Major League Soccer contest.

1) was a man short after the 14th minute when midfielder John Thorrington drew a red flag and was forced to leave the playing field. Thorrington was cited for taking down Macoumba Kandji on a breakaway.

The Red Bulls are 0-2-1.
