KNOXVILLE, Tenn., April 3 (UPI) -- University of Tennessee men's basketball Coach Bruce Pearl received a renegotiated six-year contract Friday after reports said Memphis might want to hire him.
Interim President Jan Simek and Athletic Director Mike Hamilton made the announcement, saying details will be released later.
"I truly love my job and I want it to be clear that I'm not interested in any other job," Pearl said on Tennessee's Web site. "I'm 100 percent committed to this school, this program and our student-athletes. Tennessee has all the resources necessary to win championships, from our recently upgraded facilities to our ability to schedule."
Memphis needs a replacement for John Calipari, who became the head coach at Kentucky earlier this week.
In four seasons in Knoxville, Pearl has guided the Volunteers to a 98-37 mark, including four NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Vols were 21-13 this season and finished in a tie with South Carolina for the SEC's East Division title.
