CHICAGO, April 3 (UPI) -- Martin Havlat had a goal and an assist Friday and the Chicago Blackhawks clinched a playoff berth by defeating Nashville 3-1.
The Blackhawks advanced to 95 points, the third best total in the Western Conference.
Nashville, meanwhile, missed a chance to move into the eighth and final playoff spot. The Predators are stuck on 84 points, one behind eighth-place St. Louis and just one ahead of No. 10 Minnesota.
Samuel Pahlsson and Jonathan Toews also scored for Chicago and Nikolai Khabibulin made 25 saves for the victory.
Toews broke a 1-1 tie with 7:34 to go in the second period.
