WASHINGTON, April 1 (UPI) -- Mike Green scored twice Wednesday, helping the Washington Capitals rally to a 5-3 win over the New York Islanders.
The Southeast Division-leading Capitals faced a 2-0 deficit before Alexander Ovechkin's 54th goal at 5:37 of the second started their comeback.
Green's goals -- his 29th and 30th this season -- came on power plays at 10:55 and 12:18 of the third. Green added one assist.
Keith Aucoin (1), and Nicklas Backstrom (22, empty net, unassisted) also scored.
Netminder Jose Theodore yielded three goals on 27 shots for the Capitals, who can secure their second straight division crown if Carolina loses Thursday to the New York Rangers.
The Islanders got goals from Kyle Okposo (18, power play) in the first, Frans Nielsen (8) in the second and Richard Park (13, unassisted) in the third. Nielsen also had an assist.
Goalie Joey MacDonald was beaten four times on 42 shots in the Islanders' fifth loss in their last six contests.
